MOLD
  • Many types of mold exist.  Molds produce tiny spores to reproduce.  All molds have the potential to cause health problems.  Molds can produce allergens that can trigger allergic reactions or even asthma attacks in those allergic.
  • Molds are known to produce potent toxins and/or irritants.  There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, and foods.  Potential health concerns  are important reason to prevent mold growth and to remediate/clean up any existing indoor mold growth.
  • Our inspectors will determin is you have visual mold.  If so, for additional charges, we are able to take a swab test, collect airborne samples, and do a mold analysis of your carpets, providing you with the history of mold inhabitants in that particular carpet from the date of installation to the present time.
  • The key to mold control is moisture control.  It is important to dry water damaged areas and items within 24-28 hours to prevent mold growth.  If mold is a problem in your home, clean up the mold and get rid of the excess water or moisture.  Fix leaky plumbing or other sources of water.  Wash mold off hard surfaces with detergent and water, and dry completely.  Absorbent materials (such as ceiling tiles & carpet) that become moldy may have to be replaced.
  • You should be aware that although a substance may look like mold, a positive determination of whether it is mold or not will require laboratory analysis for final confirmation.

RADON
  • This gas is colorless, ordorless, and radioactive.  You can not see it, feel it, smell it, or taste it.  It is virtually undetectable to humans.  Radon comes from the radioactive decay of naturally occurring uranium in the soil.  After cigarettes, the Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
  • It will take 48 hours to receive test result from the laboratory,

LEAD BASED PAINT, SOIL, DUST
  • Lead is present in all environments due to its all-encompassing use for industrial, automotive, and household over the years.  It remains a common element in older homes, either as paint, dusts, or in the soil.  Our inspectors will gather soil, dust, and paint samples to determin if in actuality lead is present.  The test will be performed in accordance with an EPA certified laboratory and/or manufacturers guidelines for the collection of lead samples.  You will receive the test results within 72 hours.
